Biography of Dr. Ed Johnson, Jr.

Dr. Ed Johsnon, Jr. Dr. Ed Johnson served as senior pastor of First Baptist Church of Rosemount, Minnesota, from June 1967 until June 2002. On June 16, 2002, Pastor Johnson handed over the job of senior pastor to his associate pastor, Pastor Dave Clear. Pastor Johnson then became "Pastor Emeritus." In the thirty five years that he pastored First Baptist Church, the church received many recognitions from Christian organizations for the exceptional growth the church has experienced.

Dr. Johnson holds a B.A. Degree from Tennessee Temple University and a Master's Degree from Temple Baptist Theological Seminary in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He has been honored with a Doctor of Divinity Degree from Hyles-Anderson College in Hammond, Indiana and a Doctor of Divinity Degree from Baptist Christian University in Shreveport, Louisiana.

First Baptist Church, under Dr. Johnson's leadership, carried on an aggressive Bible-centered program designed to reach the entire family. Presently they are operating nine buses over a fifteen-mile radius bringing in hundreds of people to Sunday school and church on Sunday. First Baptist Church is also a strong missionary minded church currently supporting forty-six missionaries in countries around the world, seven Christian schools and colleges and full time Christian ministries here in the United States. They have a new church planting program that has helped start several churches in the state of Minnesota and in other states throughout the country.

Dr. Johnson is the founder of the First Baptist Church Christian School that consists of grades K4-12. Many of the school's graduates are presently serving the Lord in full time Christian work around the world.

Dr. & Mrs. Johnson have four children. They are all married and actively serving the Lord in various ministries.

While serving as Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church and overseeing the various ministries of the church, Dr. Johnson carries on a nationwide evangelistic and Bible conference ministry. He is the past president of the Minnesota Association of Christian Schools and is presently serving as the Executive Director of that association. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the American Association of Christian Schools and on the General Council of Baptist Mid-Missions.

Dr. Johnson was chosen to serve as the guest chaplain in the United States House of Representatives and is actively involved in the political process. He is presently a state delegate to the Republican party and has been a delegate to the State Central Committee. Other political involvement has included serving as State Vice-Chairman for "Dole for President" and serving on the election committee of Congressman Jim Ramstad and Senator Rod Grams.
